Chest pain

For the past month, I have been experiencing what feels like a deep muscle pull in my chest.  The discomfort level varies and I also have experienced some dizziness.

I have continued to work out and jog 5-6 times a week with no known effects from this pain.

I do take fish oil and L-Arginine supplements for my heart.

Is the pain something that is more than likely dealing with my heart instead of another muscle?

Diagnosing, and misdiagnosing, chest pain is a primary example why practicing medicine is still an art form. Given it is one of the most common presentations to a healthcare facility, even our most sensitive diagnostic tools are not enough to replace a thorough history in determining its origin.  Where exactly is the pain? What is its quality? Does it radiate anywhere? Does it increase when you exert yourself and ease when you rest? Is there shortness of breath or any other concurrent symptoms? Is it associated with food intake? How old are you, do you have any medical problems, and is there a history of heart disease in your family? And on. And on.

In other words, time to see your doctor . . .
